RESEARCH ACHIEVEMENTS 2024

  • 15 Wild germplasms of Agaricus were procured from Maharashtra, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Rajasthan and Kashmir were confirmed using ITS markers.
  • A total of 100 strains of A. bisporus were evaluated from temperature tolerance at 29ºC & 33ºC.  A total of 8 strains showed temperature tolerance at a temperature of 33ºC.
  • A total of 10 selected strains of button mushroom were evaluated. A-176 and A-177 were found to be the higher yielders.
  • Out of eight released button mushroom strains NBS 5-59 found to be the highest yielder.
  • 7 high hybrids of Flammulina were identified for higher yield as compared to control (DMRO-253)
  • 40 hybrids developed in oyster mushroom and confirmed using mycelial compatibility test and presence of clamp connection.
  • Two varieties one in milky mushroom (DMR-Milky-985) and one in Shiitake mushroom (DMRO-327) released and two varieties (spore less variety DMRP-395 in Oyster and High yielding variety DMRO-330 in Shiitake) were developed and released through AICRP-M.
  • Fourth successive trial on induction of ascomata (fruit body) in Morchella was completed successfully under greenhouse conditions with 12 kg ascomata production.
  • A total of eight selected combinations of casing material were evaluated for yield and quality. Coirpith +10% CaCO3 proved to be highest yielder with better quality.
  • Out of 22 bacterial isolates Pseudomonas aeruginosa identified effective against Mycogone permiciosa (wet bubble disease), Bacillus proteolyticus and Pseudomonas putida found effective against Cladobotryum sp showed >90% growth inhibition. However, none of the isolates found effective against Trichoderma sp.
  • New species of Cladobotryum was identified associated with cob web disease of oyster mushroom. Basal hilum like out growth was recorded at both the ends of spores. In common species i.e. C. dendroides found associated with cob web of shiitake mushroom, microscopic characters of spore showed basal hilum at one end of the spores only.
  • Silver nanoparticles synthesized from Trametes mushroom identified effective against Mycogone perniciosa exhibiting 60.94% inhibition at 1000 ppm concentration
  • Malt extract was identified as the optimal medium for mycelium growth for making vegan meat using oyster mushroom (DMRP-115, 392, 136, 116, 135) and Milky mushroom (DMRO-985). Strains DMRP-116, 135 & DMRO-985 were selected based on their higher mycelial biomass production for vegan meat production.
  • For development of mushroom mycelium based vegan meat, DMRP-136 (P. ostreatus var. Florida) was identified to be the best out of 14 strains of 8 different mushrooms.  Soybean extract based liquid media was optimized for production of mushroom mycelium for vegan meat production.
  • Steeping fresh Oyster mushroom in 1% NaCl + 0.2% citric acid, +0.2% acetic acid + 0.05% KMS solution increased the shelf life for 25 days at room temperature.
  • Effect of pre and postharvest sprays of antimicrobials were studied on the shelf life of white button mushroom (strain A-15) and the results showed that KMS (0.05%) and EDTA (0.03%) reduced decay loss, weight and delayed cap opening during storage.
