Government Spawn Suppliers
Mushroom spawn is an important input for successful mushroom cultivation. Farmers and entrepreneurs should arrange a reliable source of quality spawn before starting production.
As a practical planning guide, ensure that spawn is available from a dependable supplier within approximately 200–300 km of the proposed cultivation unit, where possible. Confirm current availability, species/strain, price, collection schedule and handling instructions directly with the institution before planning a crop.

Before purchasing spawn
- Confirm the supplier is currently producing the required mushroom species and strain.
- Ask about spawn quality, production batch, collection date and recommended storage/transport conditions.
- Arrange collection in advance; avoid leaving spawn in hot conditions or storing it longer than advised.
- Check the quantity required and coordinate the delivery or collection schedule before preparing substrate.
The original published page also notes that private spawn producers operate in locations including Solan (Himachal Pradesh), Kurukshetra (Haryana), Delhi, Patna (Bihar) and Mumbai (Maharashtra). See the institute's separate private suppliers page for that category.
